Suggestion #08:  resize the Orion to 4.5 meters and its crew to three astronauts

What do, rational peoples, if (e.g.) they need some workers to build their house?

They recruit... a) 20 workers for 50 days or... b) 1000 workers for a single day?

While, for billions peoples around the world the most logical and rational answer to this question is "a)", for NASA the BEST CHOICE of the two, is "b)" and (worse!) the latter of two, is (also!) the "solution" that NASA will really apply!!!

In latest months of 2005, when the early info about the ESAS plan was revealed, I've deeply criticized on my website and on the uplink.space forum (that some weeks ago has DELETED and CENSORED about 1000 of my 1600+ posts there, but, saved before on my computer, so, I'll publish them soon on this blog) several points of this "perfect" plan, of which, three was: the TOO BIG dimensions (that, in 2005, had a 5.5 meters diameter) of the first version of the CEV (now Orion) the TOO LARGE (4-6 astronauts) crew and the TOO SHORT (just 7 days) lunar surface stay.

Also, 1.5 years ago, I've also published my Ares-1 will be the first dead-weight launcher article where you can read an accurate and detailed description of the problems of this absurd and irrational NASA's choice about the Orion's dimensions and its too big crew!

In short, the (still) excessive dimensions of the Orion and its high (and useless) number of astronauts aboard, actually are (as in a chain reaction), the origin of (nearly) all the problems the ESAS plan faces today and will face in future!!!

So, my 8th suggestion for the HSFPC and NASA is: resize the Orion to 4.5 meters and its crew to three astronauts for ALL orbital and lunar missions, since, three astronauts are more than enough to carry the american astronauts to the ISS, two Orion (instead of one, giant and expensive, six-seats Orion!) can be used (only IF necessary) as ISS rescue ships (with the Service Module modified to stay years docked to the ISS) while, the same (4.5 meters, 3 astronauts) Orion, can be used also for all (longer and richer) lunar missions, because, 3 astronauts on the Moon, already IS a crew 50% bigger than Apollo and, two-three weeks of stay and exploration on the lunar surface (instead of the single week planned in the old/bad/wrong ESAS plan) will results in a 50-100% better (and richer of scientific results) lunar mission!

Not forgetting, that, a smaller (4.5 meters, 3 astronauts) Orion might better fit several kind of (existing or new) rockets and, that, everything (Orion, rockets, missions, etc.) should cost much LESS (probably HALF or LESS) than current Orion and Ares designs, and will actually fly, sooner, quickly an surely!!!
